Who am I?
By Marta Simmons
2011
I am so small, but yet so vast
I travel through the mouths of others, while persuading evil out of the good
I am in churches passing through the whispering lips of ladies with big hats
And I float through high school hallways past lockers, classrooms, gyms, and book bags
I am what everyone loves; yet, everyone hates
I caused a twelve year old girl to slit her wrist the other day, and in the blood I was there- running through her mind and through her hopelessness
Yet, even after committing crimes against humanity I am still supported and utilized in every different way
Sometimes soft and SOMETIMES LOUD I am spread over and over and over again
I often don’t want to know the truth because I love to live in a world of hate; a world of jealousy, and revenge
I am what everyone loves, that is until it is your turn . . . then everyone hates
You bicker about how unfair, how untrue, how unrighteous
Yet, you know my name because you used me many, many times; for many, many years; and many, many days
My name is Gossip . . . and I live in your mouth
